A Windows Repair CD will do the trick too and is much easier to obtain. The OP can burn it on a friend's machine via the Command Console / Backup and Restore (provided that the two machines have the same architecture, 32 or 64 bits).

Not aimed at you Bill, you're just answering the question, but whoever is the brains behind this wacky thought of "permit'due south arrive impossible for our customers to recover crucial data" even though for everything else in the world you can have a new password e mailed to yous in an instant - they have some explaining to do. Thanks Microsoft. bought a laptop abroad, make new, reputable dealer, can't get java on my browser because I don't know the admin username or password - never needed it, my computer starts up and goes straight to desktop without a login screen. And I don't have the windows disk to reinstall as I left information technology abroad. Then my net is like a snail. What a staggering inconvenience because this company can't provide united states of america with a simple password recover feature. Only should I exist surprised with Microsoft? It's the last windows product I buy.

If your motorcar goes straight to the desktop without asking for a password then this happens because someone configured the motorcar to do so, typing the password for Windows to think it (and not making a note of it . . .). Windows does not practise this by itself.
Since y'all can log on, here is how you can solve your problem:
1. Click the Starting time world.
2. Type cmd.exe in the Search box.
3. Printing Ctrl+Shift+Enter
4. Click "Run as Administrator".
five. Type the following command and press Enter:
cyberspace user "%UserName%" 123456
(to set up the password to 123456)

I take a similar result. HOWEVER, my computer is on and I am signed in currently (although once it sleeps, I will be locked out because I cannot recollect my latest password.
As I am in my PC, can I use any of the suggested command or back upwards and restore options now?

Tin I do something similar in windows 7 please?
I am logged in to my PC currently.
I have simply inverse my countersign but realised I had fabricated it far likewise hard to recollect.
